Fred Dryer — Actor, Radio Personality, and Legendary LA Rams Defensive End — Tackles New Spokesperson Role as Solar Optimum’s “Sultan of Solar.”
Fred Dryer has always been a force to be reckoned with. Not only has he been a towering figure upon the landscape of Los Angeles’ sports, he’s been a star of television and the silver screen. As a broadcaster and radio personality, Dryer is knowledgeable, engaging and candid. And now, Solar Optimum, Inc., the Los Angeles based solar- and renewable-energy provider, is proud to add “The Sultan of Solar” to Fred Dryer’s resume. As the new spokesperson of California’s Premier Solar provider, the former LA Rams standout, actor, producer, broadcaster, and radio personality, will be the face and voice of Solar Optimum, sharing the myriad benefits of joining the solar revolution.Dryer played in the NFL over the course of three decades, from the late 1960s to early 1980s. The imposing 6’6” All-Pro Defensive End recorded 104 career sacks, primarily with the LA Rams. He continues to hold the NFL record for scoring a pair of quarterback safeties in 1973 on the way to defeating the Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The achievement earned Dryer the nickname, “Sultan of Safeties,” as well as the NFL Defensive Player of the Week by the Associated Press. Selected to the Pro Bowl in 1975, he played in arguably one of the most memorable Super Bowls in the game’s history in 1980.
After retiring from football, Dryer enjoyed acting success in film and television. His best-known role came in the ’80s television police drama “Hunter,” as well as in a recurring role on Cheers. On the big screen, Dryer starred in a number of motion pictures, including the action-thriller “Death Before Dishonor.”
“For anyone who has ever met Fred Dryer, your first impression is that he’s literally ‘larger than life’,” notes Rainier de Ocampo, Director of Marketing for Solar Optimum. “Fred lives up to his storied career as an NFL great, an imposing figure on TV and the silver screen, and today, as a no-holds-barred broadcaster. As a long-time advocate of cleaner energy solutions, Fred Dryer will not only bring gravitas to our solar message, but his authenticity is a virtue that fits very well with our brand.”
Solar Optimum will be keeping their new spokesman busy. In addition to plans for promotional radio and streaming spots that include ESPN 710, CRN digital talk radio, and Rams’ radio stations, Dryer will appear in various Solar Optimum digital media channels, video, and print.
“Bringing Fred Dryer aboard marks a turning point in our marketing approach,” said Arno Aghamalian, founder and chief executive officer of Solar Optimum. “We’ve steadily become the industry leader through hard work and by providing our customers with top-rated service and technology. But we needed to drive our message across in a manner that had the most impact. With the Rams return to Southern California, what better way to make our voice heard and reinforce our commitment to ‘local experts, real relationships and honest talk’ than with a celebrated sports figure like Fred Dryer.”
