When Solar Optimum President and CEO Arno Aghamalian began his industry-changing business years ago, he transformed his visionary passion — and a single service truck — into one of California’s premier solar companies.
Today, his once-modest startup is a dynamic, expert-driven enterprise with an impressive fleet of vehicles and a dynamic, knowledgeable workforce empowered to install the finest solar equipment and to serve Solar Optimum’s countless satisfied customers throughout the greater Southern California area.

When Solar Optimum designs and installs a system, no stone is left unturned. While most of our competitors make claims and promises that seldom hold up to the test of time, Solar Optimum proudly and consistently achieves (excuse the pun) “optimum” output. Over the past 8 years, our local experts have designed and installed solar systems that boast an impressive track record of 103% overproduction.
What does this mean? Well, most solar installers routinely offer a warranty on workmanship and roof penetration — and, numerous solar-panel manufacturers guarantee a level of production that declines from year to year. What Solar Optimum does is over-deliver. On both fronts!
The result is more savings, greater ROI, and the invaluable opportunity to find peace of mind. In short, no one does solar — or understands Los Angeles — like Solar Optimum does.
In light of a recent announcement from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power regarding utility rate hikes for L.A. residents, Solar Optimum is — more than ever — ready, willing and able to tackle the challenges ahead.
The rate change will go into effect starting April 15, 2016. Subsequent incremental adjustments are set to take effect on July 1st, 2016; July 1st, 2017; July 1st, 2018; and July 1, 2019. Details on the impending impact to your pocketbook can be found at https://www.myladwp.com/2016_2020_rate_request.
As you can see, according to the LADWP’s five-year rate plans, typical residential customers will see an average increase of about 3%, or $4.20 per month, for water and power on their bill each year. Low-use customers will have a combined water and power bill increase of 2.4% on average per year, or about $1.91 per month. And high-use customers (top 10%) will pay about 5.3% more, or $16.31 per month each year.
What’s more, in a whitepaper entitled Understanding California’s Electricity Prices, Bloom Energy sited that “Californians in particular should expect to see high price increases, averaging 5 to 7% per year, given stronger environmental legislation and historical underinvestment.” And, according to a recent analysis by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), California’s rising costs of generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity points to a potential 18% increase in the average retail price of electricity over the coming two decades.
Making the move to solar is more imperative than ever. In fact, in most cases, going solar will cover the entire cost of your electricity usage. Even with the increased LADWP rates looming on the horizon, you’ll be off the hook with a system custom built especially for your home or business.
