TECO Sun Select Program
The Sun Select program is a simple, flexible and meaningful way for customers to enjoy the advantages of renewable energy, even when they are unable to install a rooftop system on their premises. Residential and small business customers can purchase locally generated solar power to match a portion of the electricity they use. Because TECO owns the panels that produce the energy, you won’t have to worry about the upfront costs, maintenance concerns and long-term commitments that come with owning solar systems.
How It Works
With this program, the fuel charge on your monthly electric bill is replaced by a new solar charge, based on the portion of your electricity that comes from solar. Participants lock in a solar rate and get to buy exactly what they need. Your monthly bill will show your subscribed solar portion, which will appear as a separate line item with a related solar charge.
Who Can Participate?
Anyone in Florida can participate in this TECO solar program. Whether you are a residential or commercial customer, the program allows you to enjoy the benefits of solar energy regardless of whether you rent or your area has lots of shade.
TECO Net Metering
The TECO net metering program is available for Floridians who own or lease solar systems. Net metering is a billing arrangement that allows qualifying customers to get credits for the excess solar energy generated by their panels. The extra energy, which does not wind up getting used by the home or business owner, is sent back into the electric grid.
How It Works
Net metering measures the energy generated by your solar panels and matches it against the power you use. If in a given month, your solar system produces more electricity than what you consume from the grid, you will receive credits on your next monthly bill. With TECO’s net metering program, you will receive full retail credit for the excess electricity generated.
Who Can Participate?
Floridians who currently own or lease a solar system that was installed by a certified installer can participate in the TECO net metering program. You must interconnect your system to the grid and get a net meter installed.
